Women Can Jump

Standard

For the first time in Olympic history, women ski jumpers will be allowed to compete in at the 2014 Sochi Games. After a protracted battle with the IOC in preparation for the Vancouver Games, in which women ski jumpers were denied the chance to compete, this decision comes as a great relief and boon to the sport.

The International Olympic Committee had its eye on Oslo in February, during the 2011 World Championships, when women from all over the world jumped in foggy and windy conditions. The Committee members liked what they saw, announcing last week that women ski jumpers will be included in the Sochi Games. Not only has participation in the sport increased worldwide, but the level of competition has also risen. I, for one, look forward to seeing these women finally compete in the Olympic Games.
