While it might be raining at Crystal right now (at least in the Base Area), snow is in the forecast! The NWS is calling for 4-8 inches by tomorrow morning and has even issued a Winter Weather Advisory. Furthermore, the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center says “The extended models are now showing an upper trough developing along the coast by next weekend to provide low freezing levels and a return to wintery weather!”
I like upper troughs that develop along the coast. I like it even better when they slam into the mountains and deposit loads of fresh light powder at our doorstep. The strange pattern of the last few weeks has brought two types of weather: either rain or sun. While it has made for some fun spring-like days, I’m ready for the real winter to begin. Screw Punxatony Phil and his missing shadow. I predict we will be skiing powder into May this year. Anyone wanna put money on that??
