What a Snow Storm!

The city of Seattle is crippled by snow, but up here at Crystal Mountain, we’re loving it.  It has snowed over two feet since Sunday evening, and it is currently 12 degrees.  In a word: blower!

I took this first photo last night at 5 pm.  The stake was almost buried!

This next photo was taken this morning at 5 am.  Another solid 8 inches.  That’s a total of 28 in a little over 24 hours.  Incredible.

Today I plan to get out there and ski some of that low-density powder.  After a little avalanche control this morning to protect the gondola building crew, I will be doing exactly that.  Crystal is closed today and tomorrow, but I have a feeling I’ll see more than a few folks skinning up to get the goods.  We reopen Thanksgiving, and what a thing to be thankful for, snow!

    • Rick,
I hear you. Yesterday I was in town running errands. The drive back up was a bit dicey. But at least up in the mountains we have the proper equipment for snow removal. There’s more of it here, but the driving conditions are better.
