First Turns of the Season

Standard

Today I skied my first turns of the year.

The remainder of last night’s moon hung over the untracked bowl like a promise.  After a quick check of the snow depth (a modest two feet in places) I gingerly made my first turn.  And then another.  And then another.  As I skinned up for another lap, I snapped a few photos.

Crystal Mountain isn’t open yet–we still need more snow down below.  But skiers have arrived nonetheless, earning their turns.  October 27th is my earliest ski day on record.  Let the games begin.
